The letter 4 and....

The letter 4 and....

Today's drawing is brought to you by the letter 4.

Today we'll be continuing with the mosaic work. Sherry and Cassie will be grouting the first ones they've done and then working on the second ones. They will be taking the second ones home to grout because they won't have time here. It has been a full and fun week and this is our last day together. I love the fact that we will be spending our last day in the studio.

I am also finally getting around to fixing the Borscht. I will try to make a presentation to share so you can learn how to make this delicious soup too.

I am looking forward to catching up with all my LJ and blog friends later in the week. I feel like I've missed out on some stuff- while having fun here.

Mosaic Madness

Mosaic Madness

Today's drawing is brought to you by the number 3!

Today is another day of mosaic making madness! My sis and niece and I worked on them for hours yesterday and will be at it again today.
Sherry and Cassie are doing Christmas themes and I am doing a mosaic from one of my daily drawings. I will post a picture of us working later today if I can.
I will also be making a pot of Borscht today. I'm hoping to document the process so I can share my recipe with photos for you.
Right now I hear people out of bed upstairs and need to go feed them.

I am not getting time to check out all the Illustration Friday submissions because I've got company but I would like to thank those of you that have commented on mine! It is so nice of you all to take the time to comment and I really appreciate it. I'm looking forward to doing that too.

Gotta run!

Snow and the Number 2!

Snow and the Number 2!

Today's drawing is brought to you by the number 2! She's thinking, dang!, if I were another number I wouldn't have a pointy nose.....maybe I'd be beautiful.

Hey it's Snowing!!!!! I love snow! It's not much but maybe it will keep up and blanket the ground and cover all the brown-ness.

Today my sister and niece and I are working on mosaics. We went to town yesterday and got some supplies and started our design work last evening. Today we have the whole day to work on them and I am looking forward to it. I've had so much fun having family around, working on art, having lots of good food to eat and not needing to cook. This is my idea of a really great time.

Right now I'm getting this posted while everyone else is in bed because it seems rude to be on the computer too much when you have company, don't you think?

I've GOT to get a little time in this morning on this house, things get so messy so fast when there are lots of extra people and I feel better when it's a bit tidy-er.

Cling- for Illustration Friday

Cling- for Illustration Friday

My submission for Illustration Friday.

Let me start with the # 1

Let me start with the # 1

The letter "Z" being the last of the alphabet I am now beginning with the number 1. I will do the numbers 1-9 and then start something new.

Yesterday was lots of fun. I had lots of help with dinner and everything turned out really good. There was lots of pleasant visiting and laughing too!
How was your day?

Today my sister and I went to home depot and got what we need to begin some mosaics, we're going to start tonight and work diligently for the weekend. I will show progress pics and hopefully the finished work before she and Cassie leave on Tuesday morning.

What a relief to be back on line!

Turkey Day and the Letter "Z"

Today's drawing is brought to you by the letter "Z" right here on Turkey day! This is probably how I will look tonight after the whole day of celebration with food and a wee bit of wine.

I'm getting ready to put the turkey in the turkey roaster and soon the house will smell so good that our appetites will be stimulated all day long.
What's on the Menu?

Turkey with Cornbread Stuffing
Potatoes whipped with cream cheese and chives
Rich Turkey Gravy
Home made Rolls with Butter and Jam
Scalloped Corn
Green Bean Casserole
Yams with Marshmallows
Cranberry Sauce

Pies made fresh by my mom:

Banana Cream
Apple Mince

It's a very traditional menu because we don't feel like we've had Thanksgiving Dinner if we miss some of our favorite foods. What are you having for dinner today?

Hope you all have a wonderful day and that your hearts are as full as your stomachs of Thanksgiving.

UPDATE: My isp was down the whole day yesterday so that is why this post is a day late, ARG!!!!

Preparations taking place

Preparations taking place

Today's drawing is brought to you by the letter "Y".

It's the day of doing all the preparations that can be done early. I like to have almost everything done on Wednesday so we can eat early, like 2 or 3 o'clock on Thanksgiving.
I just want the least stress and last minute stuff to do as possible. I'll be cooking the turkey in the night tonight.

So today will be fun and productive, I'm ready to get rolling.
May all of your cooking and baking turn out perfect!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

I've got no time to blab this morning, I've got to go to the airport to pick up my sister and my niece. Jamie and Nic are taking Tanner to the bus today because Paul and I both have to be out of the house early.

Things are heating up as far as holiday busy-ness.

Guests, Shopping and Turkey Day Preparations

Guests, Shopping and Turkey Day Preparations

Today's little fish are brought to you by the letter "W".

The days are busy and long, I am actually getting behind on my daily drawings because of the approaching holidays and company. I am enjoying my company and the second group arrives tomorrow but it makes me a bit frustrated in the art area that I get behind. I know, I know, it is important to enjoy life and that means living in the minute. Honestly I am trying. Yesterday my friend Jamie and I went shopping. I mean real shopping as in we were gone for hours. It was fun and I feel like I caught up on what's new and in style. Lol, I am usually not much for going shopping so I've been a little behind in the style department.
After shopping we had a wonderful Chinese dinner, we met the guys at the restaurant in town then came home to eat the birthday cake that Holly had made for Paul.

Today our friends have gone shopping for a new pick-up but will be back this evening. In the mean time I am going to be working on pre-Thanksgiving organization. Oh and I also have to run out and get a mammogram that's been scheduled for months. I HATE those darn things!!!!!!
Do you remember when I posted pictures of the Wilkenson Ranch a few months ago? That lovely ranch that is near McDermott, Nevada? Well the friends that are visiting are the ranchers that own that ranch. They are a wonderful "odd" couple, he is a gritty, incredibly hard working rancher and Team Roper and she is a stylish, flashy city slicker kind of gal. Err.... when she gets to the city. They are wonderful house guests and we are enjoying them thoroughly. Tanner is just spell bound by this gritty and handsome cowboy, he just can't get enough of Nic and doesn't want to wear anything besides his wranglers and cowboy boots so he can look like him. It's fun and Nic and Jamie are good people and good role models for a little kid.

I'm enjoying the fruits of my labor, my house is all spiffy and that helps me to be relaxed before the holiday.
So anyway, how are you guys doing, ready for Turkey day?

"V" is for......

"V" is for......

Today's drawing is brought to you by the letter "V" which is not for victory, at least not this time. I'm sure I've met this little gal before, I think I went to school with her many years ago. In fact her image has been in my mind all these years and it took the letter "V" to get it out.

Today is bright and clear and cold, beautiful! We have friends visiting and we are having fun. This afternoon the men will be going to Team Rope. They'll load up the horses and the child and take off for several hours. That will leave my friend Jamie and I to goof off in whatever way we want. I want to take her to Rembrandt's, it is just such a cool coffee shop, then we will go shopping. I don't know what we'll be shopping for, I'm not actually a big shopper, but it will be fun to go with a friend. Holly will probably join us for a while too.
Hope you all have a fabulous day!

Here's to the letter "J"

Here's to the Letter "J"

Some of my drawings this year are started with the shape of a letter, this one is one of those 26 and although it is out of order because it missed it's originally schedualed photo session, today "J" gets the spot light.

For those who are just finding me, I am a part of Blogs Illustrated but I've been showing my daily drawings on my live journal all year. I have never figured out how to place the code for the blogs illustrated web ring into the live journal template so I finally gave up and came here.

It's taken me forever to manage to post an image here on this blog, arg! I will get better as I learn to navigate around here, please be patient. I hope you'll come often and check out what's new.
