I don't have much of interest going on right now, I'm in a blah mood because I've got a cold. I don't get sick very often, in fact it's rare, and I'm so glad because being sick is such a time waster. Oh well, this too shall pass.

I guess Paul and Dan and I are going to look at a horse today- Paul is always looking for another horse. He has Dually, his really excellent roping horse but he needs a back up horse. We'll see.....

I liked this picture I took of Paul's mom (on the left) and my mom. Every time Paul's folks come to visit we women go out to lunch and shopping together and I take their picture. Aren't they cute?

No drawing today because I haven't photographed any yet :-/

It was nice to have a normal type morning getting Tanner off to school and going to the Y. It's fun when we have a break from normal routines but nice to get back to them also.

My favorite Pears

My favorite Pears
Originally uploaded by Sheila Hudson.
I think this is my favorite Pear/ Pair so far, maybe it's the colors?

I woke up in the night with a runny nose and didn't sleep much. My company left this morning and I feel all disorganized and in need of some centering, isn't that always the way when you've been out of the regular routine for a week or so?

They are so sweet and generous and kind to all of us, I am very fortunate to have in-laws like them. Tanner was sad this morning because they were leaving. I let him stay here instead of catching the bus early and then I took him to school. It's strange to think that we don't know which visit will be the last since the folks are now 84 and 85- we know they are slowing down and health issues are a problem, how long will they be able to do this? Still, it's pretty amazing that they can still drive from central California to Idaho for a visit!

In spite of being tired, Paul and I are going for a walk, we had coffee with breakfast and so don't feel like we can settle to take a nap until later. Hopefully I'll be up and running full speed in a day or so and get back on track with my usual stuff.

Been on the go since 6:30 am, whew.... Still have to got to Tanner's soccer team party tonight too. I did the early work out at the Y, then back home to go out to breakfast with the family. After that M-in-L and I picked up my mom to do some shopping and lunch, now it's just 15 minutes till I have to leave again. I'm getting so tired of running around even though while I'm out I have a nice time.

I haven't even been able to draw the last couple of night :-(

I envy those who are getting lots of painting done these days!

Tah Tah my LJ friends, I'm off again.

Paul and I took off early this morning and took a very brisk walk for 45 minutes- I really am having a hard time getting to the Y since I've got company.

It was nice this morning, a beautiful fall day and we enjoyed the time together.

Yesterday my M-in-L and mom and I spent the day shopping and going out to lunch and had a nice time together. Today we are starting out slower and will just do a bit of running around. It is amazing that my M-in-L is 85 and she is still so active and can out shop me!

Don't want to spend much time here at the computer this morning but did want to post my next drawing :-D

I'm not doing to good at responding to comments right now, I'll try to get to them as time allows.

Full House

Full House
Originally uploaded by Sheila Hudson.
This littlie drawing is part of a series of pears that I've been doing. You'll see that there are quite a few of these in the days ahead.

It has been so hectic around here for the past many days, whew. Paul's nephew and his wife and 2 kids (ages 1 and 4) were here for 3 days and then on the last day my in-laws showed up. For that one day and 2 nights we had 6 extra people in the house and it was CRAZY because of the kids mostly. The little one is a "screamin' meme", he can't talk but has figured out how to get whatever he wants with his voice on full volume (crying), gads! The other 2 were very active and the TV was on quite a bit too. To top that off Tanner wasn't the nicest kid to the 4 year old, seemed like he was jealous or something.

We actually had some fun but it was a little more action than I'm used too and Paul's folks were ready to scream and run out again before the little family left. They love us all but they are 84 and 85 years old and need more quiet in their lives. As it turned out the young ones left on Saturday morning as we were leaving to go to Tanner's last soccer game and things have been quieter now. Paul and his dad took Tanner and went on a little trip for Sunday and Monday so his mom and I hit the road and went shopping yesterday. We had a nice time shopping and taking our time over lunch at the Olive Garden and didn't get home till about 9 pm. We topped our day off with a long sit at Starbucks enjoying some mighty fine coffee and just visiting.

The guys will be back this evening and then things will be more hectic again. I missed 3 work outs last week but took Paul's niece to one on Friday, she seemed to enjoy it and I enjoyed taking her (left the kids with the men!). I am planning on going to the early ones this week so I don't get off track, I want to keep loosing weight and not be delayed. I've lost 30 to 31 pounds by now.

We slept in late today and now I'm up alone, that's why I feel like I can post my drawing and write a little. Today we are going to do more running around and take my mom along on the fun if she can go. My mom and Mother-in-law get along great and enjoy our days out which is nice for me.

Toodleoo!

Didn't even sit down at my computer yesterday. We have company and suffice it to say they have 2 little ones. one is 4 and one is 1 year old. Busy time here and I've not been able to work out either. My in-laws are on their way also and should be here tomorrow I think.

It makes me feel upset and frustrated to miss my work outs and I'm trying to eat a wee bit less to help compensate.

Today I am going back to the orthopedic doc (went first time last fall) because my back problem is not getting better. Paul and I plan on a little walking while we are out to do the doc visit.

Can't stay here at the computer, Tanner is almost ready for school and company will be ready for breakfast soon.

A Fun one- IMO

A Fun one- IMO
Originally uploaded by Sheila Hudson.
I almost always show my drawings in the order they were completed and I've been so anxious to get to this one. Tanner did the basic drawing and I then took it to a finished stage, it's a collaboration! Isn't it funny? He just loved doing this and we plan on doing more in the future.

I did just fine getting up at 4 am, got all dressed and hair and make-up on and rushed off to Rembrandt's where I just hung out for an hour and a half. There were quite a few of us and it was pleasant to be with the other artists. Then I came home and got Tanner off to school. Paul and I then went down town Boise to the historic district and had a wonderful walk together. There are wonderful old houses and lots of beautiful fall foliage in that area, it was beautiful. We walked along and kicked through the leaves that had fallen and enjoyed ourselves a lot. Later we stopped for coffee and a quiet visit before returning to the rat race.

We have some company coming this evening and so I will be devoting several hours today to preparing my home for them. Later we have the very last soccer practice of the season, Saturday is Tanner's last game too.

So, if I don't get with it I will not be ready and able to relax when visitors arrive.

Bet you thought I'd forgotten...to post my drawing today.

Just doodling some leaves for fun.

It's been a busy run-around kind of day, I'm so glad to be home this evening even though I had a nice Costco run and time with my wee little mommy.

I have to get up at 4 am in the morning. Yes, you read that right! The news guy will be a Rembrandt's at 5 am to do a little piece about the Idaho Watercolor Society show that is up there right now and since it's too early for real customers and lookers they want some of us to show up to play the parts a little. Hmmm..... that is way early for me. I'll be getting ready (have to primp to be on TV, and then come home to get Tanner off to school. Geesh, I'm glad this doesn't happen often. I'll be taking some Tylenol PM and going to bed early tonight. Probably Tanner and I will both go to bed at the same time.

Friday!!

Friday!!
Originally uploaded by Sheila Hudson.
No, this drawing is not expressing how I am feeling today! I'm feeling fine, happy that it's Friday again.

Had a great time all week at the Y and I've lost 29 pounds total since June :-D I went and got another size smaller pants today to celebrate.

Helped out with art in Tanner's class and it was fun, especially that he was so happy to have me come into his class and greeted me with a big hug. I know the years when he's willing to do that are numbered so I really try to appreciate it now.

Tomorrow morning the soccer game is early, 8 am and we've got to be there at 7:30, and it's supposed to be pretty chilly and maybe even rain! So we won't be sleeping in and relaxing in the morning. Oh well, there is only one more game after that and soccer will be over for the season.

That's it, my life in a nutshell today.

The Opposite Sex

The Opposite Sex
Originally uploaded by Sheila Hudson.
Well I usually draw females so this seems so different and masculine for a change. Hah!

Been on the go all day but got to have lunch with a friend and that was fun.

I also stopped at Barnes and Noble and got the book, The Witches, by Roald Dahl to read to Tanner. It's such a funny and entertaining book and perfect for this month. I started reading while we were having the afterschool snack and even Paul got sucked in, heh heh.

When I have a day of errands and stuff like today I just get home in time to get Tanner off the bus and it seems like the day is pretty much gone in a wink. That's today for sure but I think tomorrow I'll be staying home most of the day.

My in-laws were supposed to be here today but my F in L is not feeling well so now we don't know when they will be here. As a result of this change in plans I have let some important things slide (getting my house ready so I can relax when they are here) and now things are starting to get to me. I suppose I'll have to get my nose to the grindstone anyway just to keep my sanity.

I've been doing my drawings regularly and even have a new series the last week or so! Show you later.

So, the usual stuff today.

Had a great morning so far and now Paul and I are going out for a walk which will be so nice on this fall day. Every year we like to go for a walk where there are lots of trees in fall colored foliage. Ta ta....

Dorky Picture, Good Feeling

Dorky Picture, Good Feeling
Originally uploaded by Sheila Hudson.
Boring picture I know, but to me it is such a great feeling of accomplishment! What you see here are 32 years of photos all filed in the plastic drawers by year, in the black box are the old, old family pictures from both families and then finally I put everything for the last 6 years on CDs all labeled and organized. As you know I've worked on this project for weeks, the last thing to do will be to put it all in the safe. I took all the best images that were on my computer by year in to be printed up and they turned out wonderful. I actually think that organizing and formatting the images on my computer took the very longest. Now I will be able to keep up on the organization as I go each year, much better and less time consuming.

So I know it's dorky to show this kind of image but I just had to give myself a big pat on the back.

Good Start

I've done my work out which was great and am on to other stuff as the day dictates, of course the biggie for this week will be getting the house ready for my in-laws visit. They had planned on leaving California today but my FinL is not well and so we're not sure if it will actually happen. Still, if I don't get the house done I'll be sorry.

No time for chat this morning so I'll try to check in later if possible and see what you people are up to.

Hey, I like Friday's these days :-D Since I work out all week at the Y it makes the weekend seem more sweet, like it's well deserved rest. Not that I don't enjoy the work out, I love it, but it's nice to have a couple of days that I don't have to be there.

Tanner loved going with me this morning and then after lunch I took him to a friend's birthday party so now I have some time at home. I'm feeling good about getting all my e-mail responses and that kind of thing taken care of yesterday, woo hooo!

Hi There. Is it beautiful where you are? Right now we are having those kind of fall days that are sunny but crisp and beautiful. The trees are turning but not very fast so the leaves are still on for the most part. It's been pretty windy too so the clouds move across the sky like big fluffy sheep. I love this time of year!

Tanner has today and tomorrow off of school but today he's with his dad so I am having time without him until soccer practice. Breaks are good if they don't last too long.

I've got Ratatouille (sp?) on the stove right now, early preparation for dinner tonight, that always makes me feel good. I've done my workout and noticed that I'm in so much better condition now that I feel energized when I get out of the pool! I've also made some nice friends there which adds to the fun of going to the Y. Been drawing nightly and whenever I get a chance, just the usual as you see above, drawings in my moleskin that are amusing for me to do and don't take lots of time.

I've also still been organizing my pictures from 32 years of marriage (Yes, still working on that!) The last 6 years worth have been on my computer or cds but now I've got them all organized and have printed the best ones up until 2003. I'm almost ready to print the best ones from 2004. I was printing them myself on my HP 7550 but it got way too expensive so now I'm just taking in the CD to my local Fred Meyer and having them done for 19 cents a piece. Of course I haven't been working on the project every day, that's why it's taking so long. It has been fun though and I love knowing just where to look for certain images. I've noticed that my photography skills are very much improved since I have a digital camera too. I also notice that when I want to take pictures I'm aware that there are holes in certain time periods and I want to do better every year so that doesn't happen in the future. Life is being documented very thoroughly for the Hudson family these days.

Gollum's Girlfriend?

Gollum's Girlfriend?
Originally uploaded by Sheila Hudson.
Don't you think she's creepy enough for Gollum?

Sunday my mom and I had a great time going to a big quilt show in Boise. I used to quilt and I love quilts so much and so does mom. The best thing happened too! We had a nice time going to lunch first and gabbing away as we always do, then went to the quilt show and on our way in we bought raffle tickets for the incredible quilt that the Boise Basin Quilter's had made for raising money. Mom told me then that she was going to win the quilt, she said it several times before the drawing too. Well you guessed it, she won the quilt!!!! It is a beauty too. She was so excited she cried. I'm so glad I was there with her.

Yesterday I kept Tanner out of school the first half of the day and we went to a seminar for kids at our church. He had a good time then we met Paul, had lunch and took him back to school. After we were across town I realized I had left my sketchbook at church :-( I can't tell you how badly I panicked, so afraid that someone would not turn it in. We called but the offices are closed on Monday so that didn't help. We also had Doctor appointments that we couldn't miss so it was a couple of hours before we could go back and see if it was there. Fortunately it was there! :-D This was my moleskin with the fancy leather book cover that cost me $70 plus all of my last 30 or so drawings so you can imagine how I would have felt to lose it. I'll bet whoever found it wondered about me too because, well, you have seen all my drawings and know that some of them are pretty creepy and not the kind of thing that everyone appreciates. I could have cried with relief when I had it back in my hands. (Yes, my address and phone number were in it, but Holly had written them in when she gave me the moleskin and had gotten the number wrong by one digit.)

As it turned out, I was gone from home most of the day yesterday and for some reason I was feeling really down, teary and all. I am so tired of having days like that- I could just scream and run away! (Like that would solve it?) Anyway, I'm feeling better today. I'm just getting ready to head to the Y for my work out and then I should have several hours at home to get some stuff caught up.

I've been taking a little time daily to read some of my LJ friends entries but not enough time to comment. Sorry. My in-laws will be here in a week too so I can't really see myself getting caught up at all, there is just too much going on all the time for me to devote much attention on line even though I'd love to.

So that's it, hope all of you are in the depths of creative breakthroughs and happy as can be!
